In 2014 I developed a Custom Content Managament System for AMAT. This CMS let my client to change all the website content through friendly forms, also let him add/edit/remove courses, let users to subscribe to courses and let them upload his payment receipts.
In 2018 my client contacts me again and told me that he wants a new look and feel for his website. No changes in the backend, that has been working good since the website launch.
After a quick view of my 4 years old code (Ruby on Rails framework), I found nothing new, only: ooh ok I did that in this way, ohh cool I remember this, I am a genius, ohh good no I am an idiot why I did that? (and make a quick fix), the same old story when I check my old code.
So the problem was reduced only to frontend, I decided to use Bootstrap 4 for the responsive task and some images from my clients stock. My objective was to make a really simple site map, not to much clicks, everything in his section, and making the courses look good. After a week the new frontend was ready and deployed in the website.
This is one of those examples where the client doesn't have to change all his website to get a new user experience, MVC based frameworks let you mantain your front-end code apart from the heavy stuff (models, controllers, database, etc). So my client's clients don't know they are exactly in the same website with a new tuxedo.
I don't know how much the site will be online so I made the next video, if you can visit the website.
